Stéphanie Riso is the Director-General of the European Commission’s budget department since March 2023. She leads the preparations of the EU’s long-term budget and its role as a super-sovereign issuer on capital markets. Previously, she served in the Cabinet of President Ursula von der Leyen, overseeing the €800 billion NextGenerationEU recovery plan. Ms. Riso has over two decades of EU service, including roles in the Brexit negotiations and budget management. A French national, she holds degrees in International Economics and Finance.
