During the COVID-19 crisis the EU mobilised resources to support firms to weather the crisis but also to be ready for a green and digital future.
At this event, panellists discussed corporate investment in the EU drawing on data from the , which shows that this support reached the firms most in need – those affected by the crisis, but not firms that were previously zombie. Firms that received support were more likely to hold to their investment plans, thus transforming for the new normal. This is particularly evident when investment in digitalisation is considered. In the medium term, the capacity of firms to continue to transform is crucial. For that, targeted incentives will be critical.
