Bruegel is recruiting a part-time (60%) Development Assistant to join the Development Team for an initial 12-month period, with the possibility to renewal.

Bruegel Development team drives and coordinates general organisational growth, and supports execution of Bruegel’s core strategic goals, impact and mission. The work of the Development team consists of developing and assessing different partnership and funding opportunities and supporting the research team in implementation of research projects. The development team stands at the intersection of operational/financial, and research departments. This position offers interesting, dynamic and diverse opportunities to young professionals in their early career developments.

We would like to select a detailed-oriented and proactive Development Assistant to support the overall Development Team. The ideal candidate will work in close cooperation with the rest of the team and will provide critical support to ensure smooth daily operations and act as a vital link between departments.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administrative and operational support to the Development Team members: scheduling meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements in coordination with the other relevant Bruegel’s departments. 

  • Conduct research on companies, foundations, individuals and other relevant audiences. 

  • Prepare reports, presentations, documents and other correspondence as needed, including official documentation to be submitted to donors.

  • Assist in organising fundraising campaigns and other initiatives.

  • Provide occasional support in the logistics of Bruegel events. 

  • Maintain necessary records, files, reports, databases (e.g. Airtable, SalesForce), and resource materials used by the Development Team as well as other Bruegel teams. 

  • Handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.

  • Report to the Head of Development.

APPLICANTS’ BACKGROUND AND COMPETENCES 

  • A graduate degree, preferably in business administration, office administration, communication, political sciences, international affairs or related fields.

  • Superior organisation and planning skills.

  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, with significant proficiency in Excel. Familiarity with other PM tools is an asset. 

  • Excellent communication, writing and proofreading skills in English (drafting reports, emails, briefs).

  • Good analytical and ability to meet strict deadlines.

  • Strong attention to details.

  • Interpersonal and communication skills in a multicultural context. Team player with a positive and collaborative attitude.

  • Interest in economic policy, business organisation and development and knowledge of European affairs. Understanding of economic topics/terminology is an asset.
