Roel Dom
Roel Dom is a research fellow at Bruegel, as well as a visiting professor at the University of Antwerp. His research focuses on public finance, and taxation in particular.
Before joining Bruegel, Roel held various positions in policy and research, including as a policy advisor to Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice (2022 – 2024). Prior to that, he was an Economist at the World Bank, which he joined as a Young Professional (2019 – 2021); a Research Fellow at the International Centre for Tax and Development (2018 – 2019) and an economist at the Overseas Development Institute (2013 – 2018).
Roel holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Nottingham (2019) as well as degrees from the London School of Economics and the University of Antwerp. His expertise lies in quantitative evaluations of policy reform, as demonstrated by publications in leading peer-reviewed academic journals. He has also successfully led and supported advisory projects across Europe, Central Asia, and sub-Saharan Africa.
