China’s quest for innovation is undeniable, with very large human and financial resources devoted to moving up the ladder in manufacturing, but also in emerging technologies. In this seminar we look into China’s achievements, but also the challenges. We shared our new research on where China - but also the United States and the Euopean Union - stand in key technologies, namely artificial intelligence, semiconductors and quantum computing, and we will also discuss key takeaways for Europe.

This is an output of China Horizons, Bruegel's contribution in the project Dealing with a resurgent China (DWARC). This project has received funding from the European Union’s HORIZON Research and Innovation Actions under grant agreement No. 101061700.
