Zongze Ruan
Executive Vice President, CIIS,
Dr. RUAN Zongze has been associated with CIIS since 1988. He was a visiting scholar at School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London from 1992 to 1993. From 1996 to 2000, he served in the Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom as Second Secretary and later First Secretary. He was appointed as the Vice President of CIIS in 2002. From July 2007 to December 2011, Dr. Ruan served in the Chinese Embassy in the United States as Minister Counselor. Currently, he is Vice President and a senior research fellow at CIIS. He is also editor-in-chief of the CIIS journal - China International Studies, and member of the UNDP Human Development Report Advisory Panel.
Dr. Ruan received his doctorate in international relations from China Foreign Affairs University in 2005. He enjoys special allowance from the Chinese Central Government.
