Tim Murphy
Member of the Board, Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth; General Counsel and Chief Franchise Officer, Mastercard,
Tim Murphy is general counsel and chief franchise officer for Mastercard. In this capacity, he oversees legal affairs, public policy, corporate secretary and compliance as well as franchise development and integrity, corporate security and privacy, global diversity and the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth. He is a member of the company’s Management Committee.
Prior to assuming this role, Mr. Murphy held positions with Mastercard as chief product officer, president of the U.S. region, and group executive of Customer Business Planning and Analysis. Earlier in his tenure, Mr. Murphy was senior vice president and associate general counsel for Mastercard.
Before joining MasterCard in 2000, Mr. Murphy was an associate in the New York and London offices of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, an international law firm.
Mr. Murphy graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School and magna cum laude from Amherst College. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa at Amherst and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the National Urban League, Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship and the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth.
