Eva Chamizo

Eva Chamizo is Director of the Iberdrola Brussels Office since October 2015. Masters and Bachelor in Law, she is member of the Government´s Legal Service (Cuerpo de Abogados del Estado) on voluntary leave.
Previous to this condition she had worked as attorney in the private sector. She is an expert in European Union Law and has been Head of the Legal Service of the Spanish Permanent Representation to the European Union from July 2001 until September 2015.
Eva has given internal legal advice and negotiated, as a part of the Spanish Delegation in the Council of the European Union, questions related to the Internal Market (four freedoms, state aid, competition), Banking Union (SSM, BRRD, SRM) as well as Institutional questions (EU decision-making processes, legal basis, competences of the Institutions, agencies) and EU-related Treaties (EFSF, ESM, TSCG, SRF Agreement).
She has been Agent to the Court of Justice on behalf of Spain and acted on its behalf in infringements procedures opened by the European Commission. She has participated in the Spanish Presidency of the Council in 2010 and in 2002, chairing Working Groups in the Council.
She was member of the Group of Legal Experts in the Intergovernmental Conferences of 2007 (Lisbon Treaty) and 2003/2004 (Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe). She was part of the Spanish delegation in the Convention on the Future of Europe (2001/2004: Draft Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe).
As a private attorney she provided in-house and client legal advice on Company Law, Securities, Banking Law and liaised between listed companies and the Spanish Securities Regulator (CNMV).
