Angél Gavilán
Director General Economics, Bank of Spain
Ángel Gavilán is the Director General of Economics and Statistics and member of the Executive Committee of the Bank of Spain, as well as Alternate to the Governor on the Governing Council of the European Central Bank. He is also a member of the Eurosystem's Monetary Policy Committee and the Economic Committee and Finance of the European Union. He holds a doctorate in Economics from the University of Chicago (2005), a master's degree in Economics from the Pompeu Fabra University (1999) and degree in Economics from the University of Oviedo (1998). He began his professional career in 2005 at the Bank of Spain, where he joined as an economist degree in the Research Division. Between 2012 and 2016, he worked at BBVA. Between 2016 and 2018, he was deputy director of the Economics and Market Analysis Division at the European Mechanism of Stability (MEDE). At the end of 2018, he rejoined the Bank of Spain and held, from since then, the management of the Financial Analysis Division, the executive coordination of the Department of Analysis of the Economic Situation and the sub-directorate of the aforementioned department.
