At this event Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the EBRD, engaged in a conversation with Bruegel's Director Guntram Wolff, to outline her vision for the future of the EBRD's work in fostering well-functioning and sustainable market economies in Europe, the neighbourhood and beyond. EBRD was among the first MDBs to respond to the economic devastation caused by Covid-19, committing a €21 billion Solidarity Package to support its countries in 2020 and 2021. The bank focuses on the private sector which is key for the countries recovery. How can we build back better preparing for the post-Covid world? The EBRD as member of the MDB group, supporting member of Team Europe and founding member of the Vienna Initiative plays a key role in this journey.
The world is changing rapidly and it is crucial that policies and investments help shape an inclusive and sustainable future. In addition to helping economies cope with the fallout from the COVID-19 crisis, the EBRD is committed to actively supporting the greening of the economy, promoting equality of opportunity and advancing the digital transformation.
